Color Trends for 2008
It's always nice to do our homework
before we sit down at our easel to paint new designs.
Every year there's a little shift in
color trends for home decor. The Color Marketing Group just announced
their predictions for 2008 and we thought you'd enjoy a little peek into what's
predicted for the new year.
According to the leading
international association of color prediction, The Color Marketing Group, the
natural environment will top the list of influences for our 2008 color
palette. The shrinking world we call "globalism" will take its
rightful head of the table to influence our palette and provide accent
colors.
This means that the natural look will
be in vogue, both in our personal fashions and for home decor. The new
look is "hand made", which means unbleached and un-dyed with natural
imperfections and rich textures that come from nature. The natural colors
of the earth, rocks, earthy-greens, sandy tones and various kinds of off whites
and linen hues will be highly fashionable this year.
When they say "it's a small
world", they really mean it. The merging of cultures and regional
colors and textures will bring zest to our fashions and home decor from around
the world. Moroccan Red continues to be a favorite and will soon be
joined by glowing oranges, rosy pinks and golden sunny yellows from China, Latin
America and India. Turquoise steps in to cool the palette and add the
freshness of natural blue-green to our palette. These colors, according to
the CMG, will appear on our palette as accent colors to be beautifully paired
with natural neutrals of rich earthy browns.
On the cool side of our palette,
we'll notice natural colors of water and sky that drift into our palette to add
a gentle calmness and freshness to our fashions and home decor. They're also
predicting a deep Navy that's fully saturated and vibrant to arrive on the scene
next year.
On the shiny side of our palette,
we'll see metallic colors start to lean toward the warmer side when bronze and
copper tones begin to replace the older silvery gray tones of brushed chrome and
nickel.
The hillside villages of Europe that we love
to paint are timeless and don't go out of style.
Vibrant flowers in those sunny yellows, glowing oranges and rosy pinks will
reside in our garden scenes this year, and the soft, natural hues of our
Nantucket designs are sure to please.
